AlphaFold 3 predicts the structure and interactions of all of life’s molecules.

  • Accuracy of Predictions: AlphaFold 3 can predict the shape and arrangement of proteins and other molecules. For example, it gets the shapes of protein-ligand pairs right about 90% of the time, which is better than older methods.

  • Isomorphic Labs is leveraging AlphaFold 3 and their AI technologies for drug design, focusing on new and existing disease targets. This integration aims to enhance drug development's efficiency and success rate by providing deep insights into molecular interactions, thus enabling the exploration of previously challenging targets.

  • Challenges: The model makes mistakes, like getting the mirror-image shape of molecules wrong about 4.4% of the time. The model shows molecules as if frozen and doesn't predict how they move or change shape, which is important for understanding how biological processes work in the body.

Which Large Language Model (LLM) is better for Clinical Oncology

  • Publicly available LLMs (LLaMA 1, PaLM 2, Claude-v1, generative pre-trained transformer 3.5 [GPT-3.5], and GPT-4) were tested on 2044 oncology questions, including topics from medical, surgical, and radiation oncology, medical statistics, medical physics, and cancer biology.

  • Significant heterogenicity was observed in the 5 LLMs’ overall and subtopic performance, with only GPT-4 performing above the 50th percentile relative to the human benchmark.
